| Questions & Answers Will a big antenna get in the way?
This is the biggest misconception there is, usually propagated by people who do not hunt themselves. In reality, the antenna sits over your back in the carry case and you do not even know it’s there. In most cases, when the dogs have taken off, you pull the antenna out, use it once and walk in the direction the dogs are in. After walking a few hundred meters you usually find the dogs. There is no point pulling the antenna out every 50m as the dogs will still be where you first pin pointed them.
Are bigger antennas more accurate?
The answer here is obviously yes. There is no doubt that the larger antenna increases the directional finding ability of a tracker. This is a scientific fact.
I have never heard of the MK4 Sniffer before. Is it up to scratch?
The truth is that the MK4 Sniffer is the latest technology in directional finding radio devices. In fact, it was developed with far more in mind than tracking dogs through the bush. It is currently been used all around the world in the thousands by many technically minded people. Applications include things such as search and rescue (both within Australia and overseas), general use by the National Civil Air Patrol (USA), animal tracking device, and foxhunts (global directional finding competitions) to name a few.
Is the unit lower quality because it is cheaper than other brands?
In today’s day and age you definitely do get what you pay for, but, If you are paying too much, then you are getting ripped off. I pride myself on being able to offer fellow pig hunters the cheapest trackers on the market. They are priced competitively, not because they are no good, but because I am not comfortable with ripping people off on price. Selling trackers is not my primary source of income either (yes that’s right I have a 9 to 5 as well), so I do not look to squeeze out every cent I can.
Where is the repair work carried out?
The repair work for the collars is carried out in the USA and the repair work for the Sniffer is carried out in Australia. If at any time you require work to be carried out under warranty, I will send you a replacement device that you can use until your item is repaired and returned. You will not be inconvenience for a single day.
Are steel reinforced collars better than plastic collars?
The answer is yes. There is no doubt that if you are buying a plastic collar without a reinforced metal inner case it will not hold up to the constant impact of pig tusks to the same degree as a reinforced one.
How legitimate is the warranty?
The warranty will cover your parts and labour for the first year of the receiver and the first 5 years of your collar. If you make a claim under the warranty it will not cost you a cent unless the damage was self inflicted. | |
